Questions

When can my student take Driver's Ed?

According to Iowa law, your student make take Driver's Ed as soon as they have obtained an Iowa Learner's Permit.  We have had students take it on their first day, and some students have had their permit for a year.  It is important to note that the State of Iowa has a law that students students must have a Learner's Permit for a full calendar year prior to converting it to an Intermediate License at age 16.  The only exception to this rule would be if a student were going to get a School Permit at age 14 1/2.

What is the cost of your Driver's Ed class?

The current cost of our class is $350 per student.  When registering through your school district, full payment is due upon registration.

What is the refund policy?

A parent may opt their student out of our class at any time prior to the second class of the session and a full refund will be given.

Any student who fails to complete the requirements of our class or is removed from class for disciplinary reasons will not be given a refund.

How many classroom hours are there, and what if my student misses some?

Our classes are run in accordance with current Iowa Department of Transportation laws.  Each student must complete thirty (30) hours of classroom time.  Our classes are set up as ten (10) three-hour classes.  During the school year they are at night so students may go to practice before class.  During the summer our classes are normally scheduled in the morning.  Any class time missed by the student will need to be made up during our classroom make-up sessions.

When will my student drive?

Each student is required to drive for six (6) hours and observe a partner for six (6) hours.  It is entirely up to the students when they want to drive.
